Bricks announce open call for major public artwork for Temple Quarter’s Welcome Building

By Sarski Anderson  Thursday Dec 14, 2023

Bricks have announced an open call for “a new major public artwork” for the Welcome Building in Bristol’s fast-developing Temple Quarter.

The project has an attached budget of over £100k and an engagement budget of 5k. While the call is open to all artforms, any submissions must be guided by a set of commission principles.

“We are seeking proposals for a public artwork that will resonate with the bold new Welcome Building, which will occupy a prominent gateway site into the heart of Bristol,” they say.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

“The artwork should support a welcoming and socially responsive environment, reflecting contemporary and future ways of working and living.”

Artists are especially encouraged to apply if they, or their practice, is based in the South West.

The deadline for expressions of interest is January 5, and February-August 2024 is the expected timeline for the work.

The deadline for public artwork proposals for the Welcome Building, Temple Quarter is January 5, 2024 at 10am.
