Banksy’s Mobile Lovers sold to private buyer

By Martin Booth  Friday Sep 12, 2014

Banksy’s Mobile Lovers has been sold to a private collector for £403,000, with all the proceeds going to the Broad Plain Boys’ Club.

The Bristol artist stenciled the piece on a doorway near the club in April.

Club leader Dennis Stinchcombe soon had it removed with a crowbar, soon had it removed with a crowbar before it was put on display in Bristol Museum & Art Gallery once it was discovered that the doorway it was removed from on Clement Street in St Jude’s belongs to Bristol City Council.

A complicating factor was that Banksy himself then broke cover to say that the boys club had his “blessing to do what you feel is right with the piece”.
