Bristol period care brand expands into bladder care to support new mums
A Bristol-founded period care company has launched a new bladder care range after research revealed the significant impact postpartum bladder leaks can have on new mothers’ physical and mental wellbeing.
Grace & Green, known for its ethical period products, has introduced a range of organic liners, pads and shields designed to support women through the often-overlooked realities of the “fourth trimester” – the months following childbirth.
Research commissioned by the company and conducted among 2,000 people who had given birth in the last decade found many new mothers are changing their behaviour because of bladder leaks.
Across the South West, 45 per cent said they deliberately reduce fluid intake before leaving the house, while almost half avoid wearing certain clothes out of fear of visible leaks.

Some respondents said bladder concerns had affected intimacy, exercise and confidence in playing with their children.
Fran Lucraft, founder of Grace & Green, said postpartum leaking remains heavily stigmatised despite being a common part of recovery after childbirth.
She added: “Leaks don’t have to stop you from living your new-mum life.
“This time is hard enough without feeling embarrassed about something so common.
“By sharing stories, we can show there is no shame in leaking. This is a time when we should be in awe of what our bodies have done – not questioning them. Leaks aren’t a sign of failure, they’re a sign of what your body has achieved.”
Alongside the new bladder care products, Grace & Green has launched a “Leaky Kit” containing bladder, period and nursing care products aimed at helping women manage early motherhood.

Founded in Redland in 2019, the company received B-Corp status in 2023 for its sustainability-driven approach and community engagement.
It now works with more than 800 organisations across the UK to provide free period products and education.
