All-female social enterprise receives royal recognition for contributions to education
An all-female social enterprise founded in Bristol was recently invited to a prestigious celebration hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Women’s Work Lab, established in 2017 by Camilla Rigby and Rachel Mostyn, received the invitation to attend the Education and Skills Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, a distinguished event recognising the contributions of educators and professionals in the UK’s education sector.
With around 7,000 guests in attendance, including teachers, administrators, and community leaders, all nominated for their exceptional service in education, Camilla Rigby and Rachel Mostyn represented Women’s Work Lab.
The organisation was founded with the aim of supporting mothers back into employment, many of whom face significant challenges re-entering the workplace after a career break. The Lab recently marked a major milestone, celebrating its 500th mum returning to work.

Participants in Women’s Work Lab programmes are empowered through bespoke employment initiatives specifically designed to facilitate a confident and sustainable return to work.
The event is part of a series of garden parties held annually at Buckingham Palace, each honouring a different sector of British society. The Education and Skills Garden Party specifically highlighted the vital role of education professionals in shaping the nation’s future.
Camilla and Rachel said: “We were honoured to be invited to the King’s Garden Party, celebrating people working in Education and Skills. We had an absolutely incredible day, surrounded by lots of amazing people (and cucumber sandwiches!).
“This sort of thing has never been on our radar, to be honest – it’s only ever been about our mums, our team, and everyone’s families. So whilst it’s obviously incredible to be invited along and have the Women’s Work Lab recognised, we’re both perfectly happy to be back to normal.”

“This sort of thing has never been on our radar, to be honest – it’s only ever been about our mums, our team, and everyone’s families,” said Camilla and Rachel, co-founders of Women’s Work Lab
But the pair pledged a “swift return to Earth” to continue the work of Women’s Work Lab, helping more mothers back into employment.
“We know how lucky we are to do work that doesn’t feel like work – and it helps keep us grounded when bonkers stuff like this happens!”
