Top results for next generation of creatives
Boomsatsuma is celebrating a bumper year as its college students register exceptional results in their Level 3 Diploma qualifications.
One in three secured the top Distinction grade, half achieved Distinction or higher, and nine in ten earned Merit or above, with an overall course completion rate of 95 per cent—a remarkable performance compared to the national figures of post‑16 average of just 67 per cent.
Every student passed, and nearly all completed their courses—a testament to Boomsatsuma’s vibrant, creative-learning environment.

Every learner is moving on to a positive next step—whether into higher education, industry placements or creative apprenticeships
Unlike traditional education models, Boomsatsuma places students centre stage with hands-on, project-based learning that transcends the classroom.
This year alone, students gained real-world experience working with high-profile partners—from Arcadia at Glastonbury Festival and national advertisers Clear Channel to Bristol’s High Performance Centre—and showcased their talents at leading photography festivals.
Workshops, live briefs, exhibitions and end-of-year showcases give young creatives freedom to explore and connect with industry professionals.
Every learner is moving on to a positive next step—whether into higher education, industry placements or creative apprenticeships.
Around 15 per cent of students are staying on to pursue Boomsatsuma’s new degree programmes, including filmmaking production and post-production, game design and photography.
Others have already secured prestigious opportunities: a games student has won a Level 7 apprenticeship with the RAF in design technology, while a creative and digital media student landed a placement with Vogue, with her portfolio praised as “undergraduate-level work”.

Graduates often return to mentor and teach at Boomsatsuma, cementing the college’s strong community ethos. Mark Curtis, founder and chief executive of Boomsatsuma, said:
“We always say our students take charge of their learning, and these results prove it. It’s a joy to watch them grow into capable, skilled creatives — we couldn’t be prouder… I’m confident, with their support, Boomsatsuma will continue to deliver outcomes that make a real impact on the South West’s creative economy and beyond… A huge congratulations to this year’s cohort.”

The students will progress into competitive apprenticeships in the creative industries
Creative and digital media student Daisy Drewitt, celebrating her Distinction*, is set to study photojournalism and documentary photography at the University of the Arts London. She said:
“My time at Boomsatsuma is something I will value forever. It has given me confidence in myself and my creative ability, along with a stronger understanding of the creative industry… It is a safe place that allows us to share our passions without judgement, and we had endless encouragement and support from the teachers.”
