Thatchers brings the ‘Wild Pint’ to the great outdoors
Britain’s passion for the outdoors shows no sign of slowing, with new figures from OS Maps revealing that last August bank holiday alone saw more than 100,000 walking routes created as people swapped sofas for scenic trails.
Summer strolls often come with refreshment in mind, too, with routes including the word “pub” in their title rising by 83 per cent during the warmer months.
The link between the landscape and a well-earned drink is further highlighted by research from Thatchers Cider. Forty-one per cent of drinkers said their favourite spot for a pint was a pub garden, while one in five preferred the beach. Others nominated everything from campsites to mountain tops as the perfect place to raise a glass.

To celebrate this spirit of adventure, Thatchers has launched the Wild Pint – an invitation to enjoy a cider in the places where great views meet great flavour.
From September 1, anyone finishing a walk, cycle or surf at selected pubs across the country can claim a complimentary pint of Thatchers Juicy Apple by simply asking for a Wild Pint.
Among the venues taking part are the Turfcutters Arms in the New Forest, the Old Gate Inn in the Peak District, the Ring O’ Bells in Kendal and WAX at Watergate Bay, where surfers can swap boards for pints.
Somerset drinkers can head to the Railway Inn in Sandford, while further west, the Land’s End Hotel and Bar promises Britain’s most south-westerly pint. The Rising Sun in Taunton, an award-winning country pub, is also part of the line-up.

Eleanor Thatcher, fifth-generation cidermaker, said: “Our Wild Pints are all about celebrating nature, great cider and a sense of adventure.
“As a family-owned cidermaker rooted in the Somerset countryside, the outdoors is part of who we are – from the orchards we’ve grown for over a century to the landscapes that inspire us every day. What better way to mark the harvest than by enjoying a pint of cider, soaking up the last of the summer sun, out in the wild where our apples are grown?”

The Wild Pint offer will be available for a limited time while stocks last, across selected pubs in the South West and beyond. Over-18s only. Drink responsibly.
