By Bristol24/7  Thursday Jun 5, 2025

Businesses and professionals across Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset and South Gloucestershire now have a unique opportunity to build a more sustainable future with no cost attached.

The Organisational Sustainability Skills Bootcamp, part of the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority’s Skills Bootcamp programme, is currently open for enrolment and fully funded for eligible participants.

This 10-week course is designed for employees, company directors, and self-employed professionals who want to lead their organisations towards greener, more responsible practices.

Better Business is an initiative launched by Bristol24/7 to help businesses thrive, whilst creating a positive impact on Bristol and the people who live here.

Participants will gain a solid foundation in key sustainability topics, including:

  • Measuring and reducing carbon emissions
  • The Greenhouse Gas Protocol
  • Digital emissions and their environmental impact
  • Behaviour change strategies
  • Leadership for sustainability and change management

The programme is delivered by YTKO West of England, a business support organisation with extensive experience helping individuals and companies grow through tailored and impactful training.

The bootcamp has already made a meaningful impact on local professionals.

“The opportunity to complete a course in sustainability has provided me with the credentials to strengthen and showcase my skills and expertise and also provide clients with the knowledge to apply these principles to their own businesses,” said Sophia B from Bristol, a recent participant.

Another learner, Lou, shared: “This has been an incredible learning experience. Admittedly really challenging in places! I feel much more informed and have achieved what I set out to.”

For some, the course has had a broader, future-focused impact. Yevheniia, also based in Bristol, said: “I believe that this course will change the future minds about business sustainability and will help to develop sustainable consumption and production.

“We definitely need more courses like this to run not only for business, but for leaders.”

While the Leadership & Management Skills Bootcamp is currently full, future sessions are planned for September.

This 10-week course is designed for employees, company directors, and self-employed professionals who want to lead their organisations towards greener, more responsible practices

Interested employers and professionals are encouraged to stay in touch, with further details and promotional updates expected later in the summer.
