Bristol law firm raises over £7,000 for St Peter’s Hospice
Bristol-based law firm Barcan+Kirby has raised more than £7,000 for local charity St Peter’s Hospice following a year packed with fundraising activities.
Staff from across the firm’s five offices took part in a wide range of events, including runs and cycle rides, baking and cooking challenges, an auction of promises, clothing donations and a lively quiz – to name just a few.
St Peter’s Hospice was chosen as the firm’s Charity of the Year for 2024, having strong personal ties to many within the firm.
The charity provided care for Hanni Pennelegion, a much-loved and highly respected partner at Barcan+Kirby, who sadly passed away in November 2023 following a long illness.

St Peter’s Hospice is Bristol’s only adult hospice, providing free, compassionate care to people with life-limiting illnesses.
Their expert team offers physical, emotional, and spiritual support to patients and their families, whether in the comfort of their own homes or at the Hospice’s Inpatient Unit. The charity must raise millions each year to fund its services, relying heavily on community support, fundraising events, and corporate partnerships.
Hugh James, corporate partnerships officer at St Peter’s Hospice, praised the firm’s fundraising efforts.
He said: “Thank you to the team at Barcan+Kirby for raising over £7,000 in support of St Peter’s Hospice. Your enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication helped drive the fundraising total, while your participation in events such as the Tour de Bristol and the Great Bristol Run added a fantastic boost.
“This incredible sum will help us continue providing compassionate end-of-life care, both at home and at our Inpatient Unit, for those who need it most.”
