Artspace Lifespace joins the Better Business network

By Bristol24/7  Tuesday Oct 4, 2022

Bristol-based arts charity Artspace Lifespace is the latest organisation to join Bristol24/7’s Better Business network.

An integral part of Bristol’s arts and music scene, Artspace bring a DIY approach to supporting community-minded businesses with a focus on building preservation and investment in independent arts.

As part of the Better Business network, Artspace commit to sharing their experience of championing the arts and managing properties for community use.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

It has been 16 years since Artspace took on their first building in Bristol in 2006 and set out on a mission to transform under-used and problem properties into thriving creative resources.

At their current venues The Island, Arts Mansion and The Vestibules, they provide affordable space for artists to make and exhibit work across all genres including dance, circus, music, performance and the visual arts.

Throughout October you can visit each building as part of their Openspace events programme, concluding with the return of the popular Island Open Weekend from October 14-16.

In addition to providing affordable creation space, Artspace provides advice and support for creatives looking to start their own community spaces.

Artspace also provides consultancy for architects, developers, planners and other charities who are committed to regeneration with communities at their heart.

Their Artspace Resispace programme enables creatives free space to make and develop work in progress and in 2022 they introduced a small bursary scheme for the first time. Artspace Lifespace is part of the Bristol DIY Arts Network.

A collaboration with other network partners has led to a number of inspiring projects including the Inclusion & Development project (in partnership with Artspace’s sister company The Invisible Circus) funded by Bristol City Council’s Imagination Fund, the People’s Mansion and Futur Ville funded by Heritage Lottery and Arts Council England and the #67MillionVoices At Arms Length campaign.
