Daughters of Igbo Woman

- Akachi Ezeigbo, Ros Martin
Digital, lyrical, poetic memorial tribute to Fanny Coker, maidservant of the Georgian House, Bristol, her mother Adaeze (St Kitts & Nevis), and grandmother Ojiugo (Eastern Nigeria): women permanently separated by the inhumanity of kidnapping and human trafficking into slavery.
Akachi Ezeigbo & Onyeka Osajie (Eastern Nigeria), Vida Rawlins (St Kitts & Nevis) and producer/director Ros Martin (Bristol) have come together digitally, to render visible and give voice to three generations of 18th-century African women from one family.
This free drop-in film will play on a continuous loop during Seeds of Change Week, accompanied by In Memoriam, a short film reflecting the public memorial tribute raised by artists in Greenbank Cemetery on August 26, 2017, marking 250 years of Frances Coker’s birth.
Mon Oct 8-Sat Oct 13, Bristol Old Vic Coppers Loft, 6-8pm, 40 mins, continuous screenings, free. For more info, visit https://bristololdvic.org.uk/whats-on/daughters-of-igbo-woman
