Riddlestick Theatre: Fools
Part of Bristol Shakespeare Festival 2019.
Work-in-progress performance of this new show by Bristol’s Riddlestick Theatre.
Shakespeare’s fools are taking to the stage for one final evening of tomfoolery. And each of them have a story to tell.
is needed now More than ever
Tonight, the outsiders are taking centre stage. Through wild physical comedy, whimsical wordplay and enchanting songs, Riddlestick chart the metamorphoses of Shakespeare’s fools, from the tumbling court jester to the cynical observer of society’s ills. Whether you’re a Bottom or a Feste, this is a party for all fellows of infinite jest.
Riddlestick Theatre are a Bristol-based troupe of actor-musicians who play with past and present, fiddle with fact and fiction, and toy with traditional forms of tale-telling. Their last show The Cabinet of Madame Fanny Du Thé was listed as one of The Guardian’s Best Shows at the Edinburgh Festival 2018.
“Their energy is boundless, the script fiercely intelligent and the original live music bound to stay dancing through your head.” – The Guardian
