Uncle Walt’s second feature, this version of tale of the wooden lad who comes over all snouty whenever he talls a porky was a major step up from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in terms of its animation quality and makes excellent use of Technicolor. Modern audiences might find the moralising a tad wearing, but Jiminy Cricket is good fun, the backgorund detail is terrific, and the film inlcudes the song that became Disney’s anthem: When You Wish Upon a Star.
