Idiot Prayer: Nick Cave Alone at Alexandra Palace

Director
Robbie Ryan
Running Time
118 mins

Originally conceived as an online-only lockdown performance which was streamed back in June, Idiot Prayer sees glum Mr. Cave seated at his piano in Alexandra Palace’s empty West Hall as he runs through stripped-back versions of material spanning his career from early Bad Seeds and Grinderman right through to the recent Ghosteen album.

This event cinema screening benefits from four extra tracks not included in the original livestream. It’s beautifully shot by ace cinematographer Robbie Ryan, whose credits include The Favourite and American Honey. If that’s not enough socially distanced Cave for you, there’s an accompanying live album.
