Bristol Palestine Film Festival 2019: Wajib

Director
Annemarie Jacir
Certificate
TBA
Running Time
96 mins

Italy-based architect Abu Shadi returns to his native Nazareth to drive his grouchy old dad around hand-delivering invitations to the imminent wedding of his sister, such is local tradition. Along the way, all kinds of tensions – political, personal and generational – rear their heads.

Palestinian writer-director Annemarie Jacir‘s third feature after The Salt of the Sea and When I Saw You is a gentle comedy-drama that offers another showcase for the talents of her regular collaborator Saleh Bakri, who’s this time cast alongside his real-life dad Mohammad. It’s back on screen as part of the Bristol Palestine Film Festival.
