Possibly the only internationally renowned film, theatre and opera director to hail from Nempnett Thrubwell, Phyllida Lloyd‘s Dublin-set third cinema feature after the award-winning Mamma Mia! and The Iron Lady stars co-writer Clare Dunne as a working class mother who finds herself homeless after leaving her abusive husband and decides to build her own house from scratch – with a little help from friends (Harriet Walter, etc).
Reviews from the Sundance premiere were mixed, with some critics finding it all rather treacly if an undeniably well-intentioned portrait of female resilence and solidarity.
The Everyman’s 8pm screening on Monday 13 September is followed by a pre-recorded Q&A with Phyllida Lloyd.
