Would anyone still care about Bridget Jones 12 years on from The Edge of Reason? Helen Fielding‘s hapless, desperate singleton might have been all zeitgeisty back at the turn of the millennium, but you’d have thought the target audience would be way too busy with their own sprogs, or living alone with rather too many cats, to bother with this belated third instalment. But you’d have thought wrong, because this was another huge hit when it came out in 2016
Should you be interested, Bridget (Renee Zellweger) is now fortysomething and, as the title implies, up the spout. The question is, who’s the impregnator – her now-ex Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) or new beau Jack Qwant (Patrick Dempsey)? Aghast feminists may wish to note that alternative entertainment is available.
