Bristol 24/7 Student Guide 2025: Unmissable Clubs
With arguably the biggest club in Bristol closing its doors in July, young people who worship at the altar of Motion may be at a loss as to what else is out there – but have no fear, Bristol has everything you desire, from DnB, jump up and donk, to ska, reggae or indie.
Even if a particular venue doesn’t take your fancy, we are blessed in this fine city with cool pop-up events like Boileroom, Alfresco Disco and Dubtendo.
You could even find yourself partying in your local bakeries’ basement, Take Five Cafe or the Old Crown Courts. So, if you’re going to experience the best of Bristol, keep your options open and try it all.

Clock Tower Yard, Under stone archway, BS1 6QH.
The underground music, arts and theatre venue lies conspicuously next to Bristol Temple Meads under stone archway. Loco Klub is a boundary pushing space with history, atmosphere and magic in equal measures.
It is also one of the safest and most inclusive spaces in Bristol, regularly hosting events for Bristol’s LGBQTIA+ community.

Clement Street, Easton, BS2 9ES.
The Boxing Gym, formerly High Rise, is a must visit. Unlike my other recommendations, this is only open once a month and for special events like Rave On Avon.
The St Jude’s venue houses five unique rooms, one of which is a tiny room with bunk beds that you can sit on top of for intimate chats, and of course a big sports hall for when you’re ready to break out the skanking.
Each room has a selection of drum & bass, jungle, house, techno, disco and dub.

1-3 Elton Street, St Judes, BS2 9EH
If you’re a fan of Glastonbury’s Shrangri-la stage, you will feel right at home in this 350 cap club. Boasting the mix of dub, club and live bands that’s given the Shangri-La stage Glastonbury Festivals most cultish following.
If you just fancy a natter you won’t be alone as everyone gets cozy in the garden which is almost as big as the dance floor.

An iconic and ever reliable venue, Lakota is tucked just behind Gloucester Road in St Paul’s. With more than 30 years of events in their pocket, they know how to put on a good rave, with three levels and four dance floors you can get lost in the music till the break of dawn.
Their Halloween celebrations are worth putting in the diary now and make sure you check out the unique psytrance extravaganza from Tribe of Frog who host events there a couple times of the year.
Keep an eye out for Lakota’s new offering Moon Club, which is expected to launch in September.

16 Clothier Rd, Brislington, BS4 5PS
This one is a little bit of a trek from student central, but it is 100 per cent worth it. Based out in an industrial area of Brislington, the bass from the soundsystem literally makes the walls of this venue rattle, with the sound reverberating for half a mile.
You can find the best local and underground talent here with the best mixes and drops, all for rarely more than a fiver, which is unheard of in this economy.

The Grove, East Mud Dock, BS1 4RB
Everyone’s favourite party on a boat. Head to Thekla Thursdays for the best indie music that will have you and your pals singing word for word at each other and if that wasn’t good enough their two for one drinks all night will certainly sweeten the deal.
But be warned – get there by 12 to avoid queues that wrap around the East Mud Dock.

The Prospect Building only opened in 2024 but it has quickly become the place to find the biggest names in DnB, techno and dance.
The Prospect Building spans 25,000 sq. ft. and features two distinct performance spaces where you can expect to see Groove Armada, Gorgon City, and Flava D all in the next couple of months.

Special mentions: As a student – particularly if you are at the University of Bristol – you will inevitably find yourself on the Clifton Triangle at the top of Park Street.
Lola Lo, Daisy’s Bristol, The Brass Pig, La Rocca and Pam Pam all offer a variety of student nights with exclusive deals on drinks and tickets. It will likely resemble a night out in your hometown, but if you’re after a cheap night of fun with a mix of pop music, that’s your best bet.
Or, if you really are a staunch believer in the UOB/UWE rivalry, get yourself to the relaunch of The Croft on Stokes Croft.
