Tom Tainton becomes Bristol Bears chief exec
Newly appointed Bristol Bears CEO Tom Tainton says that it is “a privilege to lead my boyhood club in a new chapter”.
Tainton has been promoted to the top job from his former role as chief operating officer, having previously been head of communications.
The 36-year-old, who recently became a dad for the first time, says he is “passionate about playing my part” in the future of the Bears.

“We are an organisation that prides ourselves on being different and pushing the boundaries,” said Tainton, also co-founder of Burra which now has three cafes across Bristol.
“This is an exciting time for rugby and our ambition is for Bears to be at the forefront of leading that positive change.
“I’m looking forward to continuing to work with the owners, board, staff and the players to bring sustainable success to Bristol.”

In a statement, Bristol Bears praised Tainton for playing “a key role in (the) club’s exceptional growth during his decade-long tenure with the club”.
Tainton’s appointment as CEO “forms part of the long-term strategy with the aim of transforming Bristol Bears into an innovative, digitally-led and financially sustainable organisation”, with Tainton due to work closely with director of rugby Pat Lam and the board of directors “to create structures that will support the men’s and women’s teams to compete for silverware”.
Bristol Sport group CEO Gavin Marshall said: “On behalf of everyone at the club, I want to congratulate Tom on his well-deserved appointment to CEO of Bristol Bears.
“Tom’s passion, commitment and deep understanding of our values have made a lasting impact, and we’re excited for the future under his leadership.
“His journey with the Bears has been remarkable, and we’re confident he will continue to drive the club forward with innovation and ambition.”
