Great Bristol Run to flip course routes for 2026
Both the 10k and half marathon courses at the Great Bristol Run 2026 will be run in the opposite direction to recent years.
As well as the flipped routes, the start line on May 10 will be moved close to the Hippodrome and runners first winding their way through the streets of the city centre and Redcliffe before a long finishing straight along Hotwell Road to the finish at Anchor Road.
Organisers hope that the changes will help better manage the flow of runners in line with a new timetable which sees the half marathon now starting before the 10k.
Additional hydration stations will also be added across both distances including four water stations on the half marathon course and two on the 10k route, with two cooling showers for those taking part in the half marathon and one shower for 10k runners.
The Great Run Company chief executive, Paul Foster, said: “We know how much the AJ Bell Great Bristol Run means to runners across the South West and beyond and each year we strive to make the experience even better.
“We’ve listened carefully to feedback and we’re confident these changes will deliver the best event in Bristol yet this May.
“Whether you’re lining up for your first ever 10k, stepping up for the half marathon or chasing a new PB on Bristol’s fast routes, we look forward to seeing you in May.”
