Social impact: Nurturing talent

By Bristol24/7  Monday Jan 22, 2018

Bristol24/7 offer a limited number of editorial work experience opportunities throughout the year, open to anyone looking to start a career in journalism or get experience in the world of work.

Our award-winning voluntary placements are unpaid and run for one week, from Monday to Friday, with working hours between 9am to 5.30pm.

From the very beginning those on work experience help the editorial team, researching and writing stories for the website and monthly print magazine.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

People on placements create stories from start to finish, conduct interviews, attend events, take photographs and video and creating content for social media.

Previously, those who have completed work experience at Bristol24/7 have secured full-time jobs at the company and gone on to further their careers with local and national publications, including The Guardian.

How to apply

Anyone can apply for a Bristol24/7 work experience placement. No matter your walk of life, your background or your experience, we want to hear from you.

Placements are available to adults of any age and to students under the age of 18.

For people under the age of 18, work experience must be arranged through a school work experience programme. Young people can leave the Paintworks office if permission from a parent or guardian is given.

Bristol24/7 aim to make the placement accessible for all, so please also detail any additional needs in your email.

Any reasonable expenses incurred while working on Bristol24/7 stories will be reimbursed. This does not include travel to and from our office, but there is a small fund available for those who cannot afford this.
