Running from John O’Groats to Bristol

By Martin Booth  Wednesday Apr 13, 2016

Andy Persson was greeted by cheering family and friends on Wednesday evening as he ran into St Andrew’s Park.

The cafe owner is now approaching the end of an epic run from John O’Groats to Land’s End, completing the equivalent of more than two marathons a day for 17 consecutive days.

Entering the park flanked by fellow runners, a remarkably fresh Andy was soon presented with a bottle of champagne.

When not running, Andy owns Beyond the Wall cafe within The Triathlon Shop on the harbourside

“I’m feeling absolutely amazing,” he told Bristol24/7 in a brief moment away from his wellwishers. “It’s great to be back in Bristol. I was quite worried before coming here as I thought I wouldn’t want to leave. But this reception has been fantastic.

“I thought I would be struggling but I have enjoyed every moment.”

Andy is due to set off from St Andrew’s Park for the next leg of his run at 7am on Thursday morning and if all goes well will reach John O’Groats on Sunday.

Andy is raising money for Frank Water. To donate and for more information, visit www.jogle50.co.uk
