Yarn bombing on College Green

By Martin Booth  Tuesday Feb 5, 2019

A tree on College Green has been transformed into a riot of colour thanks to a group of yarn bombers.

To celebrate the end of Above & Beyond’s successful campaign for the Bristol Heart Institute Appeal, hundreds of knitted and crocheted hearts can now be found hanging on the tree between the Marriott hotel and the cathedral.

Above & Beyond, the charity that raises funds for Bristol’s city centre hospitals, has rallied volunteers from Bristol and across the South West to create the installation, which was being hung on Tuesday and will remain in place for two weeks.

Many of the volunteers who have created the hearts are past patients or friends and family of current patients, making the hearts to say thank you to Bristol’s city centre hospitals, and share messages of love and hope.
