A triumvirate of Bristol MPs are now on Keir Starmer’s frontbench team in the House of Commons.
Following Thangam Debbonaire being appointed shadow housing secretary, Kerry McCarthy and Karin Smyth have now both also been appointed to shadow ministerial roles by the new Labour leader.
Bristol East MP McCarthy Transport is part of the transport team, with a particular focus on green transport and aviation.
McCarthy tweeted that she was “really pleased to be joining (the) team and getting stuck into green transport policy”.
Bristol South MP Smyth is now a minister in the shadow Northern Ireland office, a role that she had previously held under Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership.
