Be a tourist in your own city for the weekend
The Bristol & Bath Residents Weekend is back for its second annual outing next month, with local people invited to live like a tourist and encouraged to discover the visitor and cultural attractions on our doorstep.
From March 2-4, almost 30 organisations will be hosting 36 events, with more than 2,000 tickets on offer which are either free or at specially discounted rates.
Last year’s Residents Weekend saw more than 1,600 tickets snapped up within minutes of booking opening
This year’s tickets go on sale at midday on Monday, February 12.
Highlights include:
- Drive a steam train along the Bristol harbourside
- Ring the church bells at St John on the Wall church
- Discover the exuberant colourful paintings of world renowned Bath artist Anthony Fry at the Holburne Museum
- Take a hard hat for a tour of the new building at the Bristol Old Vic
- Explore the hidden gems, natural curiosities and treasures behind the scenes at Bristol Museum
- Enjoy special after-hours openings in Bath at No. 1 Royal Crescent or the eccentric folly of Beckford’s Tower
- Meet the animals at the Avon Valley Wildlife Park
- Enjoy the splendours of Bath’s world famous museums with a single ticket that provides entry to the Roman Baths, the Fashion Museum and the Victoria Art Gallery
- Share a cup of builders tea and a bacon sandwich with the Fabulous Bacon Boys at the Theatre Orchard in Clevedon
- Marvel at the views from the top of the towers at Bath Abbey and Bristol Cathedral
- Tread the boards in an acting workshop at the Tobacco Factory Theatre
- Relax in the naturally heated waters at the Thermae Bath Spa
