Third pro-EU rally planned for Bristol
A third pro-EU rally since the referendum is to take place on College Green this Thursday.
Organisers say they expect hundreds of people to gather at about 6pm for the demonstration which coincides with Bastille Day.
Joe Williams, one of the rally’s organisers, said Remain voters must press on with making the argument for EU membership despite the result.
Bristol voted to remain in the UK, 62 to 38 per cent.

“The last thing we can afford to do now is merely resign ourselves to the fate of cutting ourselves off from the unmatchable levels of trade, dialogue and cooperation that the EU enables,” Joe said.
“As well as maintaining a passion for Europe and the benefits and freedoms we enjoy as a result of the EU, the campaign must also focus on obtaining a democratic say on the deal when negotiations are finished.”
Key speakers set to attend include Green MEP Molly Scott Cato and Liberal Democrat former Bristol MP Stephen Williams.
A debate has been scheduled in the House of Commons after 4.1 million people across the country signed a petition following the Brexit vote.
Sam Hickmott, who is also organising the rally, said: “We want to stand up for Bristol’s and the country’s place in the European Union by showing those in government in both Britain and Europe that we care strongly about remaining.
He added: “We also want to combat xenophobia, and ensure the right to remain for EU citizens.
Bristol24/7 revealed a rise in hate crimes in the city since the referendum.
