Pop-up skatepark returns to Bristol

By Mia Vines Booth  Saturday Oct 21, 2023

Dozens of skaters descended on Cabot Circus car park on Saturday as the top floor was transformed into a huge pop-up skatepark.

On a Saturday evening, skaters weaved through each other, the sound of their boards hitting the concrete reverberating across the car park.

The occasion marked the first day of a week-long takeover of the car park for the second year running, after the success of last year’s takeover.

With the help of skater brand Route One and Bedminster-based skatepark designers Canvas, cars were replaced with all kinds of obstacles for skaters to ollie and kick-flip their way through.

Sheltered from the rain, the pop-up skatepark drew in dozens of skaters on Saturday

As well as the main skatepark, Canvas will be running beginners classes and offering tips for budding skaters, and there will be a DJ playing music in the evenings.

The takeover proved hugely successful last year, with the car park providing cover from the rain, and security and staff onhand to make the experience safer for skaters.

Cabot Circus hopes the event will encourage more people to get into skating, while providing a safe and welcoming environment for skaters.

Cabot Circus pop-up skatepark will run until Sunday, October 28 from 12pm to 8pm and is a free ticketed event. Get tickets here.
