Police charge man over arson attack on SWX

Detectives investigating the fire at SWX have charged a 28-year-old man with arson.

Owen Marshall, of Royate Hill, will appear at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday accused of causing the blaze that ravaged the Nelson Street nightclub in the early hours of July 13.

The charges against him include arson with intent to endanger life and arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered.

Marshall has also been charged with criminal damage after a window of the Barley Mow pub on Barton Road in St Philip’s was damaged on the night of July 27/28.

In addition, police say they have charged the 28-year-old with two counts of making threats to cause criminal damage in relation to letters sent to Lakota nightclub and a member of the public.
