Two dead after explosion at house
A major incident has been declared after an explosion at a house in Frenchay killed two adults on Sunday morning.
The explosion happened on Sterncourt Road around 6.30am and residents were evacuated shortly afterwards, with the street closed off by a police cordon.
The families of the deceased have been informed.
Police are treating the incident as suspicious, but are not looking for anyone else in connection with it.
Enquiries are being carried out at a property in Speedwell.
Evacuated residents were temporarily moved to a nearby pub before a more permanent rest centre was set up for them.
Some left in such a hurry that there were still in their pajamas, and had to borrow day clothes from friends.
Police are not treating the incident as suspected terrorism, but have asked the public to avoid the area.
