‘Made in Bristol, tested in Palestine’

By Martin Booth  Tuesday Apr 8, 2025

Signs pointing people in the direction of Elbit Systems have appeared across Bristol.

Elbit Systems, who have a base in Aztec West, is a defence technology company which has previously been targeted by protesters who say the firm is involved in the manufacture and supply of weapons to the Israeli military – a claim that Elbit deny.

The authentic-looking blue signs with the words ‘made in Bristol, tested in Palestine’ on them, and added blood splatters, were put up in locations including Temple Meads, Bristol Bridge and Castle Park with a sign remaining attached high on the wall of the Red Lion pub in Whitehall.

On an Instagram post shared by Palestine Action, Free the Filton 18, Carry On Screening and Ronnie Barkan, Israeli dissident Barkan said that “no one is spared by Elbit Systems of Genocide”.

He said: “According to Israeli military chiefs and even according to Elbit’s own admission, its role is absolutely crucial for the execution of this ongoing genocide.

“Its employees have been working around the clock in order to supply the insatiable need of bombs and artillery for the IGF, without which Israel would not be able to carry out the genocide of Gaza.”.

The arrival of the signs comes ahead of the Security Cleared Expo taking place at Ashton Gate on April 24.

On the event website, it says it “offers a strategic platform for professionals in the security and defence sectors to connect and explore career opportunities”.
