Inspiring the journalists of the future
Bristol24/7 members are not only supporting vital local journalism but are also helping us reinvest in our community.
We take being a Community Interest Company seriously and have spent years working on social impact initiatives to help people across our city.
Our social impact projects include our award-winning work experience scheme and our Junior Reporters programme for young up-and-coming journalists.
is needed now More than ever
Year 4 pupils at Ashton Gate Primary School recently put together special front pages with the help of Bristol24/7 Editor Martin Booth as part of our Junior Reporters programme.
Ashton Gate 24/7 saw the children write their own headlines and news stories based on Beowulf, which they studied and performed last term. They also drew pictures to further entice readers to pick up their own front page.
Martin began the Junior Reporters programme with a trial at Hotwells Primary School in 2023 and is now looking for more primary schools to take part in the hour-long sessions. They can tie in with a history or English topic and are best suited for KS2 pupils.
“It doesn’t feel that long ago that I was putting together my own magazine in the school holidays. Now I do it for a living!” said Martin.
“I love being able to meet the journalists of the future, help them with their front pages and try to answer all of their brilliant questions.”
