House of Fraser reveals closing date

By Meg Davies  Friday Jul 5, 2024

‘Closing down’ signs plastered across House of Fraser announce when the store will shut.

The inevitable news of its imminent closure follows the recent announcement that a new M&S store would be taking its place in Cabot Circus.

Customers can expect closing down sales until doors close for the final time in August, with signs reading ‘20% off full price’.

The three-storey store will be replaced by a “flagship” M&S – photo by Meg Davies

Frasers Group chief executive previously described House of Fraser as a “broken business”, saying the stores were “way too big” and “under-invested”.

The three-storey department store has taken pride of place in Cabot Circus since the shopping centre opened in 2008.

The prime location will be repurposed for a 80,000sq ft M&S, which owners hope will have a “postive impact” on the shopping centre.

Cabot Circus owners Hammerson previously stated their plan to “reposition and maximise the value of major spaces”, which included House of Fraser and Cinema de Lux, the cinema that closed in December.
