By Cerys Larsen  Wednesday Jun 11, 2025

Five new sculptures have been revealed ahead of the Gromit Unleashed 3 trail.

The trail opens in Bristol from June 30 and introduces visitors to characters inspired by cinema, films and stories.

More than 50 sculptures across the city and further afield will be raising funds for The Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity.

Six-year-old Fred Hine Haycock, a patient from Bristol Children’s Hospital, was invited to preview some of Gromit Unleashed 3’s new designs.

Among the five sculptures revealed this week was Big Friendly Wallace, inspired by Roald Dahl’s The BFG and Sir Quentin Blake’s illustrations.

The BFW is sponsored by Yeo Valley Organic and will be stationed at the New Inn in Blagdon this summer.

Sponsored by Burges Salmon, the lineup also features Feathers McGraw as Netflix’s Wednesday who will be welcoming passengers at Temple Meads.

Walk the Lime – inspired by the 2005 Johnny Cash biopic – is sponsored by Wai Yee Hong and will be located at their shop in Eastville.

First seen in Wallace and Gromit’s latest film Vengeance Most Fowl, Norbot is sponsored by Bristol Masons and painted by Bridget Phelan, and will be placed outside Freemasons Hall on Park Street.

Ringmaster – spotted in a top hat and tailcoat – was created by Tozer Signs and sponsored by the Hitchings and Milner families. The sculpture will appear outside the Bristol Children’s Hospital this summer.

The Grand Appeal director, Nicola Masters, said: “We are thrilled to be bringing the magic and wonder of cinema, film, stories and legends to our third Gromit Unleashed trail this summer, turning the streets of Bristol and beyond into a living storybook”.

“Each Aardman sculpture is a character, each corner a scene, and together they form a spectacular adventure – all to raise funds for The Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity”.

Masters added: “By following the trail, families, friends, residents of Bristol and visitors from the UK and all over the world won’t just be part of a city-wide celebration of creativity – everyone will be helping to create a brighter, and better future for young patients in the children’s hospital”.

“This year, Gromit unleashes the magic of cinema grounded in a very real cause”.
