Fishponds pulls together for festive season

By Bristol24/7  Thursday Nov 19, 2015

Following in the footsteps of the residents and traders on Gloucester Road, more than 40 businesses on Fishponds’ ‘retail mile’ have pulled together to raise funds for the area’s first Christmas display in 12 years.

Plans are underway to put up decorative lights along Fishponds Road, starting at The Fire Basket and ending near the police station. Fishponds Business Forum are also planning to fund a large illuminated Christmas tree for the street.

The scheme received a boost from Bristol City Council, who waived the cost of a licence application for the lights.

“We think this will be a tremendous boost to the whole community,” said Leigh Cooper from Fishponds Business Forum. “We are very grateful for all the support we have received.”

The switch-on event for the Fishponds lights is planned for November 28.
