Feeder Canal crash victims named

By Louis Emanuel  Tuesday Jan 26, 2016

The driver and passenger who died when their car crashed through the barriers of Feeder Road and into the canal on Sunday have been named as Adam Clifford and Andrew Sigley.

Sigley, 40, from Weston-super-Mare, was thought to be the passenger, while Clifford, 31, from Bristol, was thought to have been driving the car when it failed to negotiate a T-junction from Short Street onto Feeder Road.

Two members of the public, a 55-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, jumped into the water in an attempt to save the two people shortly after the collision at about 6pm on Sunday evening.

The car was pulled from the canal at about 10pm on Sunday evening

The driver and the passenger, who were on their way back from a darts match, according to the Bristol Sunday Darts League Facebook page, both died at the scene.

The car, a yellow Skoda Fabia, was pulled from the canal at about 10pm on Sunday. Flowers, alongside short tributes, were left at the crash site on Monday.

Soctt Rowley posted on the Bristol Sunday Darts League page late on Monday night: “Hi everyone, as you have probably seen on the news there was a crash last night on feeder road, to cut a story short it was two of my team mates at the Shant Bulls which have passed away.

“As you can appreciate we are all really shocked and not in a good place at the minute, but I thought you all should know the situation as we may be a bit down for a while but we will be staying with the league as we know it’s what they would of wanted.

“To the two upstairs, we miss you so much and hope you are throwing some cracking darts up there! God bless my friends, love you both, see you again some day!!!! X”
