Details of Bristol24/7’s International Women’s Day events unveiled

The lineup for our International Women’s Day events at the M Shed and Bristol Museum has now been released.

Your £5 gives you access to all activities! Capacity is limited so if you want to join, make sure to arrive early.

Plus we have free entry to our community market, networking, picnic area and bar.

DAY EVENT AT M SHED

Studio 1: 

Studio 2: 

  • 11.30am – Woman in radio by UJIMA Radio
    Hosted by UJIMA Radio’s station manager, Miranda Rae, she will be joined by Steffi Barnett (ShoutOut Radio & BCFM), Angel Mel (radio and TV presenter, and DJ) and Muneera Pilgrim (Ujima Radio presenter, poet and cultural producer)
  • 12.15pm – Woman in food by Compass Group
    Hosted by marketing and content executive at Visit Bristol, Janine Alexander. Joining her will be Emily Xin Xin Chan (Wangs), Abigail McAlpine (Compass Group), Joey Callender Wood (Coexist Community Kitchen), Tamarind Galliford and Amy Symonds (Ahh Toots Baker) and Kate Ploughman (Kate’s Kitchen).
  • 1.15pm – The impact of male violence against women and girls and how to get support by Next Link
    Hosted by CEO of Next Link, Sarah.O’Leary, whowill be joined by Liz Scotney (Next Link South Glos IDVA), Alexa Murray (children and young people’s specialist), Alexa Murray (Next Link Domestic Abuse service manager and multiple disadvantage specialist) and Kay Burton (manager of Avon & Somerset Police’s Young Victim’s Service)
  • 2pmEmpowering women songwriters by dBs, Institute of Sound & Digital Technologies
    On this panel are Hannah Phipps (dBs), Annie Gardiner and Hazel Bligh.
  • 3pm – Women in nightlife culture by Bristol Nights
    Bristol’s nighttime economy adviser, Carly Heath, will be joined by Rosie Warner (Team Love), Channelle Greenwood (Bristol VIP Events), Willow Smith (X2X Music  and events & operations manager at The Underground) and DJ Dazee (Ruffnek Ting)
  • 3.45pm – Those who do not smile will kill me (decolonising Jamaican flora)
    Artist Jessica Ashman will be joined by Julia Carver and Rhian Rowson.

Harbourview:

  • 11.40am – Gender stories: an exhibition
    An insight into an upcoming exhibition at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery with Steven Bradley and Helen McConnell Simpson
  • Midday – Youth circus performance by Circomedia
    Circomedia is a world renowned centre for contemporary circus and physical theatre.
  • 12.45pm – ALICE Project collective dance
  • 1.30pm – Music by Zubieta and The Suaves
  • 13.45pm – Women in journalism by Bristol24/7
    Hosted by Bristol24/7 reporter, Hannah Massoudi, who will be joined by Bristol24/7 Deputy Editor Seun Matiluko, Harriet Robinson (BBC), Heather Cartwright (LBC), Jasmine Ketibuah-Foley (BBC) and Susie Long (freelance).
  • 2.30pm – ALICE Project collective dance
  • 3.45pm – Music by MĀDŁY
    As well as heading up her own band and lighting up jams with her distinctive French flow, she coordinates Trinity’s music programme, collaborates widely and is dedicated to supporting emerging talent.
  • 4pm – Music by Badliana
    Bristol based artist Badliana draws on dark electronic sounds such as grime, hip hop and trap

NIGHT EVENT AT BRISTOL MUSEUM

  • 6.30pm – Aerial performances
  • 7pm – Muse Movement
    Heels dance led by local artists.
  • 7.05pm – Pammy’s and aerial performances
    Pammy’s sets and radio shows are a mix of sub weighty underground sounds that are underpinned by a gigantic love for underground house and techno.
  • 8pm – Bitch, Please! with J.Rains & CEEC and circus acts
    Bitch, Please! is making space in Bristol for queer people to express themselves and celebrate all things queer with pride
  • 10pm – A for Alpha
    Abby Gray aka A For Alpha has become well known in the city’s club scene for her 90s-inspired house, garage and techno DJ sets and has recently set up her own record label, Alpha’s Trip Record
  • 11pm – BBY Goose
    BBY Goose has been working to carve out a space for herself in a South West club scene that has yet to fully embrace trance and hard dance. But she’s determined to stay true to herself and her sound.
  • Midnight – ALICE Project with Helena Larrosa
    Helena Larrosa is a Spanish DJ who moved to Bristol five years ago and is now a resident DJ with the ALICE Project.
