Dan Norris rearrested over more alleged serious sexual offences
Serving MP and former West of England metro mayor Dan Norris has been arrested for a second time on suspicion of a number of serious sexual offences including rape.
Norris was first arrested in April 2025 on suspicion on sexual offences against a girl, rape, child abduction and misconduct in a public office. Police said they are no longer actively investigating any sexual offences against children.
The 66-year-old has now been arrested on suspicion of rape against a second woman, sexual assault against a third woman, as well as voyeurism and upskirting against a number of women.
Enquiries into the original allegations of rape and misconduct in a public office are ongoing and the serving independent member of parliament for North East Somerset and Hanham remains on conditional bail.
The investigation, led by the force’s specialist Operation Bluestone team, began in December 2024 and covers alleged offences spanning two decades, from the 2000s to the 2020s.
An Avon and Somerset police spokesperson highlighted the “sensitive and complex” nature of such cases and added that enquiries often require a significant amount of time to complete.
They said: “We’re keeping victims updated on any developments and we’ll continue to give access to any support they may need.
“We’d respectfully ask people not to speculate on the circumstances so our enquiries can continue unhindered.”
Norris remains an independent MP as he has refused to resign although he is currently banned from the Parliamentary Estate.
