Coronavirus live updates: June 8 2020
From today, most people arriving in the UK will have to quarantine for two weeks. Some groups are exempt such as road haulage workers and travellers from the Republic of Ireland.
But the move is controversial, with airlines and travel companies saying it is unjustified.

No new positive cases for coronavirus were confirmed in Devon this weekend. It was the first time since March 12 that the county went two consecutive days without a new case being confirmed. Cornwall saw just one new case on Saturday and no new cases on Sunday.

New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern declares there are now “no active cases” of Covid-19 there.

Covid-19 cases around the world now stand at just over seven million, according to Johns Hopkins University. The United States has the highest number of confirmed cases so far – with more than 1.9 million. With nearly 700,000 cases, Brazil comes second, followed by Russia (467,073), the UK (287,621) and India (257,486).

- Dentists in England are able to reopen from this week as long as they have safety measures in place.
- June 22 is the target date identified by ministers for pubs and restaurants to reopen outdoors in England, the Financial Times reports.
- Some Premier League clubs have begun playing friendlies at their home grounds as the competition moves towards its restart on June 17.
