Cannabis worth £500,000 found growing in closed pub
As many as 500 cannabis plants with an estimated value of around half a million pounds have been found growing inside an empty pub.
Four people have been arrested following the discovery.
Police officers found the plants at the Star Inn in Tickenham which has been closed for around 18 months.

The four men, aged between 29 and 42, who were arrested have since all been released on conditional bail.

Inspector Matt Hawkins of the Clevedon neighbourhood policing team said: “Information from members of the public, who suspected the building was being used for criminal activity, meant we had sufficient evidence to carry out a proactive warrant last Wednesday.
“Four arrests have been made and a significant amount of illegal drugs have been taken off the streets.”

The Star Inn at Stone Edge Batch on Clevedon Road dates from the mid-19th century and is the only pub in Tickenham.
A planning application to demolish the pub and replace it with five new homes was refused by North Somerset councillors in November.
