Is this Bristol’s most elaborate ever wedding proposal?
The bar has just been raised for imaginative wedding proposals in Bristol.
Looking through a pair of binoculars in the Giant’s Cave overlooking the Avon Gorge, Eliza Fyfe spotted a banner hanging over the side of the Clifton Suspension Bridge with the words ‘Eliza marry me’.
Fortunately, she said yes to her now fiancé Adam Price who had managed to transport a table and a pair of chairs through the tunnel to the viewing point to celebrate their betrothal.

When the newly engaged pair returned through the tunnel to the Clifton Observatory above ground, they were met with a large group of family and friends, several of who had been integral in the logistics behind acoustic scientist Adam’s proposal.
The day of the proposal was also the Bishopston-based couple’s two-year anniversary and they went the next day to Chance & Counters on Gloucester Road where they had first met.

“Adam really pulled out all the stops!” said Eliza, a choir director.
“What an incredible romantic gesture – just wow. The pictures speak for themselves.
“Thank you so much to my parents, my brother, Adam’s parents and friends for holding the banner over the Clifton Suspension Bridge (words I never thought I’d say!) and to everyone who came.
“It was amazing and of course, thank you to my fiancé Adam. I love you!
“We are now very happily engaged and the last few days have been a total whirlwind.”
