Bristol Local Food Fund to distribute £110K between charities and communities

By Hope Talbot  Wednesday May 29, 2024

Bristol Local Food Fund is offering £110,000 of funding to charities and community groups across the city.

This funding was generated at Bristol Local Food Fund’s Anti Banquet.

In February, the Bristol Local Food Fund (BLFF) hosted around 700 attendees, including service personnel and charity workers.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!

The unique event saw Bristol businesses purchase tables for local charities, while their bosses rolled up their sleeves in the kitchen.

After its success earlier this year, the Anti Banquet will return on a date yet to be announced, with hopes of helping those suffering from food insecurity in our city.

After successfully raising above its £100,000 goal, the BLFF now has £110,000 to distribute in grants.

The grants will support initiatives which promote food equality, and help build sustainable local food systems.

Grants will prioritise applications from groups supporting people and areas most affected by food insecurity, including single parents, disabled people, people from black and minority ethnic groups, carers, people identifying as LGBTQIA+, and young people (aged 16-24).

There is no limit to the amount companies and community organisations can apply for. The Citizens Panel aims to spread the funding across the city and expects average grant sizes to range between £5,000 – £10,000.

BLFF is a voluntary project aiming to create a city of food justice, giving people access to nutritious and affordable food, regardless of their background or situation.

BLFF fundraises from people and businesses across Bristol, reallocating funds collected to community food projects tackling food insecurity.

Applications are open until Monday 17th June.
