Body found in property close to Harbour Inlet

By Martin Booth  Saturday Apr 24, 2021

The body of a young man has been discovered in a property between Anchor Road and the Floating Harbour.

The 24-year-old man’s death is currently being treated by police as unexplained.

A police cordon was set up for several hours on Friday, metres from revellers enjoying drinks as the sun went down on the nearby Harbour Inlet.

Gasworks Lane is a narrow pedestrian-only cobbled road that leads from Lime Kiln Road to Capricorn Place.

The police cordon prevented access to the alleyway from either end as well as the steps that lead up to it from close to Spoke & Stringer on the Harbour Inlet.

A police statement said: “We were called at just before 4pm on Friday 23 April after the body of a 24-year-old man was found inside a property in Gasworks Lane, Bristol.

“At this time, the man’s death is being treated as unexplained and a forensic post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

“His next of kin have been informed and are being supported.”
