An otter was caught scampering around Broadmead
An otter was seen scampering around Broadmead on Wednesday evening.
Immy Pawlik and her friend India Evans were waiting for their buses when they saw what they thought was a ferret.
They along with a stranger called Jesse banded together to get the otter home safely.
They stopped cars, cyclists and pedestrians from hitting the otter; and called wildlife rescue services for help as they steered the animal towards water.
Immy described experience: “It was constantly nerve wracking as we genuinely thought he might get hurt.
“We were chasing this poor otter, trying to herd it towards Castle Park, but not before he tried to go into the gym.
“No service answered our calls aside from the police who just told us to follow guidelines online.”

They made it to Castle Park and the otter leapt into the Floating Harbour.
Immy said: “It was honestly one of the best experiences ever seeing him swim off safely. Though the feeling was also matched by the fact that we know the water is filthy and polluted and while it’s the safest option, it sucks to think it’s the only viable one.”
