Ambulance workers remember Palestinian paramedics killed in Gaza
Ambulance workers from across the Bristol area held a vigil in memory of paramedics and emergency staff who have lost their lives in Gaza.
The event in Castle Park marked 40 days since 15 Palestinian medics were killed, with their bodies later discovered in a shallow grave.
The Palestine Red Crescent Society has called for an independent international inquiry into Israel’s killing of the workers which it said constituted a “full-fledged war crime”.

An organiser of the event said they wanted to “honour the courage and sacrifice of colleagues who were targeted while trying to reach the wounded under bombardment”.
“Since the start of the assault on Gaza, medical staff and ambulances have been systematically attacked in clear violation of international law and humanitarian principles.”

Ambulance worker Severn added: “Across the world, ambulance workers operate under a simple principle: we are there to save lives, without fear or favour.
“Our colleagues in Gaza were targeted while carrying out that sacred duty.
“We gather to remember them, to mourn them and to say clearly, medics must never be a target.”
