Adorable baby giraffe Gus born in Bristol
Adorable baby giraffe, Gus, born at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm on Thursday, is already stealing hearts.
The spindly infant is the last son of the park’s famous giraffe, Gerald, who recently died, so his birth is particularly poignant for keepers who are glad to see the legacy of their old friend living on.
Mum, Genevieve gave birth to Gus in the privacy of the zoo’s Giraffe House on Thursday evening and he has already taken his first shaky steps.

“It’s really nice to have something after Gerald’s gone,” said giraffe keeper Laura Burgess.
The family’s number has gone back to four with the arrival of Gus to join his older brothers, George, four, and Geoffrey, two.
Although the elder siblings seem to be a bit jealous over new-born Gus, as proved by George’s aggressive body language and foot stamps.
“George is a complete mummy’s boy, so he’s a bit jealous someone has taken his mum,” said Laura. She added that the zoo’s zebra, on the other hand, is really excited about the new family addition.
Keepers say that Genevieve is a really caring mum and has been waking up her new-born to feed him throughout the day.
Africa section head keeper Emma Green was on hand at the birth and said: “I’m really happy for Genny and her family, a real positive after the sad passing of dad Gerald earlier this spring and a lasting legacy for our special family.”
