19-year-old charged with attempted murder after stabbing

A 19-year-old man has been charged with multiple offences after two men were stabbed in Easton.

Mohammed Akakhail, of Shamrock Road in Eastville, was charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article and is due to appear at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

A 20-year-old man who was arrested alongside Akakhail has since been released on conditional bail while the police continue investigating the incident.

Police were called to the incident on Stapleton Road at 2.41pm on Friday following reports that a man had been assaulted.

A male victim remains in the hospital, undergoing treatment for his injuries that are no longer believed to be life-threatening.

Neighbourhood chief inspector Serena Serjeant said: “This is a significant update in our investigation and we’ve updated the victim’s family on this development.

“We’re incredibly grateful to those people who’ve contacted us with information which has been vital in helping us understand the circumstances of Friday’s incident.
