18-year-old woman charged with attempted murder

An 18-year-old woman has been charged with the attempted murder of a 27-year-old man.

The victim, who suffered minor injuries, was assaulted in Bedminster on August 2.

Alina Burns, of Lynton Road, Bedminster, first appeared at Bristol Crown Court on August 4 on charges of racially aggravated actual bodily harm and three counts of possession of a bladed article.

She returned to the same court on Monday to face an additional charge of attempted murder.

Police described Burns as white British.

Following further enquiries, Counter Terrorism Policing South West, supported by Avon and Somerset Police, now leads the investigation.

Burns remains in custody and is next due to appear on September 26 at the Old Bailey in London.
