£100,000 donation sees Underfall Yard near 50% of fundraising target
Underfall Yard is almost halfway there in its fundraising efforts to restore the historic harbour asset to its former glory following a devastating fire.
The Nisbet Trust has pledged £100,000 towards ongoing restoration work to repair the damage caused by an arson attack in May 2023.
Underfall Yard trustees have also confirmed that £200,000 from reserve funds will be dedicated to the site’s revival, in the hope that it can continue to serve as a hub for boat builders and maritime businesses.
is needed now More than ever
Nisbet Trust chair of trustees, Anne Nisbet, said: “Since the fire, we have been inspired by the resilience of the team working to restore the yard.
“By pledging this funding, we hope to accelerate the restoration efforts and make sure Underfall Yard continues to thrive for generations to come.”
Repairs to the fire-damaged shipwrights building are due to be completed by early spring.
Repairing all of the Grade II and II* listed buildings is expected to finish in summer 2026 and cost £2.8m.
