The Mount Without launches fundraiser for final upgrade

By Hannah Massoudi  Sunday Dec 15, 2024

The Mount Without is appealing for donations so they can finish an upgrade to the venue.

In the last two years they’ve raised £125,000 for the theatre and events space, they’r now calling on the public to help them raise £40,000 to get them over the finishing line.

The funds will contribute to the build of the Impermanent Theatre. They’re planning to install 200 beautiful and comfortable raked seats and a new sprung floor stage to the more than 900 years old, iconic city centre building.

Their goal is to get the funds raised and the work done so that in eight weeks time they will be able to open the new space for dancing.

They then can fufill their vision making The Mount Without one of the most exciting dance houses in the country and a unique theatre for Bristol.

In a video the venue’s patron and renowned actor Mark Rylance, said: “Last year, we had an event there to raise money for seating, and it was a marvellous event. There were dancers and I spoke quite a bit of Hamlet. The acoustics are beautiful.

“But it’s the soul of this deconsecrated church, that really gets your heart and opens it up. I hope you consider donating to them.”

They are offering a range of rewards for donators to the project, including a limited edition A4 print from an IMPERMANENCE production, as well as a named plaque in the theatre.
