Ward & Williams
At the beginning of this year, Sarah Ward and Tina Williams were working together at a small research consultancy in Bristol.
As of this week, you can find the two friends ensconced in Claude, their vintage Citroen H van which they have lovingly transformed into Bristol’s newest food outlet on four wheels.
The eponymous Ward & Williams have a pitch on Narrow Quay from Monday to Friday between 7.30am and 3pm where they serve coffee from new roaster Bristol Twenty alongside homemade cakes and sandwiches made fresh on the van each day.
Sandwiches on opening day included cheddar, coleslaw and rocket for £3.50; and hummus, grated carrot and black olives for £3.30.

For breakfast, there is a selection of pastries, porridge, and yoghurt with almond and raisin granola, raspberries and honey (£2.20).
If you have more time than simply grabbing coffee or food on the run, there are two small metal tables on the Narrow Quay cobbles.
It was here where I sat on Monday morning, enjoying a well-made double espresso (£1.60) under the dappled shade of an avenue of London plane trees I had never truly appreciated before until stopping and waiting for a while.
The customer after me had climbed off her boat and over the railings to get her morning coffee fix from Ward & Williams, overjoyed that after opening her shutters a new cafe had arrived quite literally on her doorstep.
In the bright morning sunlight, it would have been idyllic if it were not for an office building almost opposite the van being loudly demolished.
