Thai-Cambodian culinary collab returns for a pop-up
Following a successful pop-up at The Scrandit in January, Chicago-based chef Chanita Chayaluk is returning to Bristol for another special culinary collaboration with Barang.
The two-day Thai-Cambodian fusion event will take place at Tomo No Ramen on West Street in Old Market from May 25–26, bringing bold flavours and vibrant dishes to the heart of the city.
“I am delighted that Chanita is returning to Bristol for yet another exciting pop-up collaboration with Barang,” said Barang’s founder Tom.

“Our last event together at The Scrandit in January was a huge success, so it’s great news for the people of Bristol that they’ll be able to try Chanita’s Thai dishes once more.”

Chanita Chayaluk, renowned for her expertise in Thai cuisine, perfected her skills at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu in Bangkok.
The weekend menu promises to be packed with bold, vibrant dishes, designed to celebrate the distinct but complementary cuisines of Thailand and Cambodia.
“Our bank-holiday weekend menu will once again feature a mixture of Cambodian & Thai dishes,” Tom explained.
“consisting of punchy aromatic salads, fire-cooked meats, fried Cambodian chicken, and a Thai prawn coconut curry.”

For Barang, this collaboration is part of a busy season of events. After the Old Market pop-up, Tom heads to East Yorkshire for a two-week collaboration at The Social Distortion, before returning to Sweden in July for Holy Smoke BBQ’s annual live fire festival.
Tom Geoffrey founded Barang Street Kitchen to explore his love of Cambodian street food, first experienced on trips in 2017 and 2018. After a few pop-ups in pubs and venues in South London, he began hosting supper clubs at his home in Forest Hill. The rest, as they say, is history.

The event will operate on a walk-in basis only, although bookings can be made for groups of six or more by emailing hello@barangstreetkitchen.co.uk
